Feeding America
With God protecting us & guiding the way, we loading our car not knowing where we were going to sleep each night or where we were headed but went on a 9 State Road Trip. Every food bank, church, school, food pantry & prison rehabilitation centers that we visited were meant to be. We were able to volunteer, work, listen, educate, donate cash and groceries to help save lives and feed tens of thousands of people across our country. 12 States total thus far: California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, Kansas. 2nd Trip Hawaii 3rd Trip, Chicago & Tennessee
Recap: We head home with the weight of the world on our shoulders. We look at EVERYTHING differently now. We saw 1st hand what 9 states in our nation are experiencing. We pushed though very little sleep, aches, pains & not one hot meals, to make sure others had a roof over their head, cloths on their back and food in their stomachs. It wasn’t easy but we wouldn’t hesitate to do it all over again.
This year, Feeding America shows an 85% increase in the demand of food assistance. Every time we spoke with Food Bank volunteers, they shared with us that less food was being donated, less people were volunteering & their was a rise in more families needing help.
108 billion pounds of food in the US have been wasted from what happens in the fields, transportation, supermarkets, restaurants & homes. That’s 40% of all food in America wasted.
Not only did we see the struggle of many, we felt the pain of our Mother Earth. We drove over 1000 miles before we saw water in the Colorado River. We saw extreme temperatures melting roads in Texas and causing fires in Arizona. The worlds largest Ice Sheet faces a dreadful future, for it’s fate rest in the hands of human kind. Our earths glacier ice is showing extreme vulnerability to climate change. If it all melts, scientist believe sea levels will rise by 52 meters.
We MUST all take a moment and realize what is happening around us. We can’t wait until there is no more opportunity to save lives and save this earth. We must think about our future and the future of the ones that will come after us. Take a drive across our nation. Help or at least help in your communities.
